Vicks VapoRub is a topical cold comfort ointment with menthol and related vapours that many families keep for stuffy nights. For external use on intact skin. Familiar pharmacy staple for short term cold symptom comfort.
How it works
Rub a thin layer on the chest, throat, or back as the label shows. Clothing can help hold the vapours. Use up to the daily maximum on the jar. Do not put in nostrils, mouth, or eyes. Do not heat or microwave. Wash hands after applying. Stop when the cold eases. See a clinician for high fever or breathing distress.
Side effects
Skin redness or burning can occur on sensitive skin. Wipe off and rinse if irritation is strong. Never use on broken skin or in children younger than the age on the pack. Camphor containing rubs are dangerous if swallowed. Seek urgent care after accidental ingestion.
