Meet Forxiga (dapagliflozin)
Forxiga contains dapagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor that helps remove excess glucose through the urine and is also used in selected heart failure and kidney care pathways. Prescription only. Confirm indication and dose with your specialist or GP.
How it works
Usually one tablet each morning, with or without food, exactly as prescribed. Stay well hydrated unless fluid is restricted. Watch for genital hygiene and early signs of infection. Your clinician may pause therapy around major surgery or acute illness. Never share tablets. Keep refill reviews on schedule.
Side effects
Increased urination, genital yeast infections, or urinary infections can occur. Rare risks include ketoacidosis even with near normal sugars, and severe infection of the perineum. Seek urgent care for nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, breathing trouble, or fever with genital pain. Tell the team you take an SGLT2 inhibitor. Not for type 1 diabetes unless a specialist program says otherwise.
