Child reading near a window, noticing vision concerns early

Children rarely say “my vision is blurry.” They adapt. Parents and teachers usually notice behaviour first. Use this list as a nudge to book, not as a diagnosis.

Signs worth noting

  • Sitting very close to the TV or holding books near the face
  • Squinting, frequent eye rubbing, or tilting the head to see
  • Avoiding reading, drawing, or near work they used to enjoy
  • Complaints of headaches after school or screen time
  • One eye that turns in or out, even briefly

What to do next

Schedule a pediatric eye exam. Catching a focusing problem or amblyopia (lazy eye) early makes treatment more effective. If you are unsure whether something is urgent, call the clinic and describe what you see.
